In short, Duality is the next generation console for those who love analogue but work digital!
At the center of improvements to the way Duality controls and communicates with DAW applications is the introduction of Ethernet connection between the console and DAW host computer. This single cable approach simplifies installation. The existing MIDI ports on the console are retained and can be utilized for connection of other MIDI equipment, effectively making Duality a MIDI Interface.
There is new dual layer DAW control, enabling Duality to control two DAW's simultaneously with seamless switching of hardware surface controls between manipulation of each DAW layer.
The Duality Logictivity Browser has also been refreshed with
new features, a streamlined user interface and new visual appearance. The Solo/Cut tiles across all of the consoles channel strips have been replaced with a new set of LCD screens providing more space for a greater level of information and improved viewing angles.
The analogue side of Duality receives 25 individual feature additions, with a few key areas of focus. The Talkback system sees the addition of an Autocue system that provides options to set how the Talkback & Listen switches and Red Light Mode physically operate or respond to Play or Record transport commands.
The SSL Automation system has been significantly enhanced with the addition of an Offline Trim facility, selection of Automation Update Status at the head of the mix and the addition of automation for all Cue, FX and EQ insert switches. The Monitor Volume control is also updated with a new Calibration facility, a new 'fine' mode that increments in 0.4dB steps and the ability to display in three different modes: FILM (off-95db), Music (1-11) or Gain (off-0db). The TotalRecall™ system also receives an upgrade with the addition of an Autoscan feature that significantly speeds up Recall by conducting a sequential scan of the channels only stopping at those which require attention.
NEW Constant Visual Feedback – Large TFT displays across all channels and center section deliver unprecedented visual feedback on input source, signal level, output routing, DAW status, processing order, channel routing and split channel architecture. A new Eyeconix feature offers the ability to use icons and images as track markers for simple, at a glance identification of track source.
SuperAnalogue™ & More –SSL's renowned SuperAnalogue circuit design uses revolutionary DC coupled, capacitor free circuitry to provide the holy grail of ultra-wide and flat frequency response, extremely low distortion and an exceptionally low noise floor. This bus and channel signal processing technology is coupled with the VHD (Variable Harmonic Drive) circuitry to add colour to this wonderful 'straight wire' performance and warm up digital signals, bringing the soul of early analogue recordings to 21st century production technology.
Channel Routing Tile – Central soft switch assignment of channel processing (EQ/dynamics) is available on one, many or all channels, recallable via 'Instant Reset'. Use of central click-free electronic soft switching delivers improved operational flexibility and significantly reduces long-term maintenance.
NEW Multi Operator TR – Display of Total Recall™ settings on large TFT displays across the meter bridge for all channels and center section enables several operators to work simultaneously to recall analogue settings in a fraction of the time previously required. NEW Session Management – Studio browser session management software provides one-stop external archiving and retrieval of automation and Total Recall data. Here, users can also load custom images into the Eyeconix library.
GREEN - Power consumption has been reduced by 50%, so the power supplies can be built into the console, eliminating the need for a separate air conditioned machine room, cutting the bottom line and helping protect our environment.
